A Framework for Understanding Poverty

SGBCLLEN organised the dliverery of “A Framework for Understanding Poverty” two day PD workshop held in Leongatha on March 6th & 7th. There was a great turn out from such a diverse group of educators, social and community workers from across our region. The PD aimed to help build capacity within our schools and community so that at risk young people and their families can be better supported.

Workshop topics included: The hidden rules within economic classes, generational poverty, middle class and wealth. Characteristics of generational poverty and why these students often fear being educated. The role of language registers, disclosure patterns and story structure. How economic class affects behaviour and mindsets. The eight resources that make a difference in success. Discipline interventions that improve behaviour. Building Relationships.
