From SWL to Apprenticeship

Fraser has always had a keen interest in motors and likes working with his hands. Last year he studied Certificate II in Automotive through Federation Training and attended the South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance (SGTSA) trade training automotive facility one day per week.  As part of his studies Fraser also completed Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) one day per week at JSL Motors in Leongatha. This placement has given Fraser the opportunity to showcase his training and personal attributes to Jarrod Lovie Manager at JSL.

“Fraser has proved his knowledge and work ethics and has now been employed as an apprentice. An SWL placement is not only a great way to try before you buy for employers but gives students hands on experience in the workplace” – Jarrod Lovie Manager, JSL

The SGTSA trade training facilities are an integral part of VET offerings here in South Gippsland. The state of the art facilities in automotive, horticulture, electrotechnology, carpentry and plumbing are providing much needed vocational pathways for students.
