STEM Sisters Project Launch

The STEM Sisters Project Launch for South Gippsland Bass Coast was held yesterday in Wonthaggi. 22 year 10 girls representing 5 secondary schools in the region were inducted into the program. Also in attendance were 10 STEM Sister Ambassadors, women working in STEM fields who will be mentoring these students throughout the year.

Keynote speakers Kim and Ashton from Phillip Island Nature Parkspresented the students with a project proposal in Seal research data. We also learned about some local environmental issues including marine debris and its impact on local species.

Mentors and students conversed over lunch about why they wanted to be part of the STEM Sisters project, their passions and their pathway into their current careers.
