Transport for VET students

One of the issues young people face in South Gippsland Bass Coast is access to adequate public transport. Key findings in a recent transport audit of the region indicates that existing services and timetables do not meet all community needs. The impact is that students from areas such as Phillip Island, Wonthaggi and surrounds cannot access educational facilities at AGA Korumburra, Community College Gippsland & Federation Training sites in Leongatha. To improve access to participation in local vocational education & training, a working group has recently finalised a submission to Transport Victoria. Key partners in this project include; SGBCLLEN, South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance (SGTSA), AGA Korumburra, Federation Training Leongatha, Community College Leongatha, Wonthaggi Secondary College, South Gippsland Shire Council and Bass Coast Shire Council. Meeting today from left to right, John Cargill SGTSA, Kylie Rooth AGA & Ken Fraser South Gippsland Shire Council.
