Work-readiness skills program

Working in collaboration with Wonthaggi Secondary College, ANZ Bank Wonthaggi and Bass Coast Shire Council, we facilitated a work-readiness program in Term 3/4. The program was developed to help students build the skills needed for career navigation and transition to employment. It was delivered over five sessions and engaged Year 11 VCAL students.

The program consisted of several stages from career exploration to industry tours, resume writing, job applications and attending a mock interview which was conducted by industry representatives.

As part of the program, industry representatives also conducted a mentoring session to students at their school.

“I would like to thank the students of this class for the way in which they conducted themselves leading up to and on the day. They are a credit to the College and to the importance of the VCAL program in this College. Seeing the growth in their confidence over the year has been immensely pleasing. To see them overcome any fears and anxieties and walk into the Interview with their heads held high, makes the whole experience worthwhile for me as the teacher” .
