The South Gippsland Bass Coast LLEN works closely with its partners in creating outcomes for young people.

South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance SGTSA

http://sgtsa.com.au/

The South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance aims to strengthen and enhance links between schools, other educational providers, industry and the broader community. This results in better opportunities for young people in South Gippsland through access to a wide range of VET programs and the creation of stronger pathways between school and the workplace.

The South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance promotes student access to skills training from a range of different providers. This is achieved through a ‘blended delivery model’. This means that both practical training and theory is delivered through a combination of traditional classroom settings and the integration of information technologies including video conferencing. Students now have access to a wider range of training opportunities but are based for a large part of the time in their own school.

Based on advice on economic development advice from South Gippsland Shire the trades identified in the trade training centre are:

  • Agriculture
  • Automotive (Heavy stream)
  • Building and Construction
  • Electrical
  • Horticulture
  • Plumbing

In the longer term links will be made with offerings from other areas throughout Gippsland opening up a wider range of learning pathways.
