LLEN Partner, South Gippsland Trade Skills Alliance held it’s very first open day on Monday 15th August 2016.
The state of the art training facilities in Leongatha and Korumburra include a multi-level Plumbing Training Centre; Interactive Hybrid Car Centre; Automotive Workshop; Carpentry and Electrical Workshop; Interactive Solar House; and Common Rail Diesel Training Centre.
The facilities opened its doors to local employers, schools, parents and the community. There were several information sessions which were facilitated by LLEN partners Apprenticeships Group Australia, Community College Gippsland, GOTafe, The National Centre for Diary Education and Federation Training. The day consisted of workshops, facility tours, displays, demonstrations and trade activities which gave students a real hands on experience.
The partnership between the four training organisations and secondary schools in South Gippsland will give students a diverse range of course offerings that also address local industry needs in South Gippsland and Bass Coast.
Heavy automotive and agricultural equipment training will be available at the Leongatha site, a first in the Gippsland Region. Electrical and plumbing training, including apprenticeships are now available in South Gippsland. New facilities for agriculture and horticulture, including hydroponics, are also available.
